Face Reality | Chemical Peels

The Face Reality Family of Peels contain a combination of exfoliating and brightening acids which are ideal for acne prone, hyperpigmented, and aging skin. They are formulated to provide a corrective treatment without excessive irritation or dehydration.

Chemical peels are preformed by a professional and consist of high concentrations of ingredients in order to resurface skin, exfoliate, diminish fine lines and wrinkles, kill acne causing bacteria and unclog pores, and rid any unwanted pigment in the skin. With consistency, proper post care, and the use of sunscreen, you will achieve amazing results!

At Aesthetics by Cait, the majority of the peels we use in the treatment room are self-neutralizing and contain a combination of TCA, L-Mandelic acid, and L- Lactic acid, each peel varying strength of ingredients. Here is how each key ingredient will aid in treating acne and unwanted pigment...

TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid): Exfoliates the outer layers of skin to reduce acne, signs of aging, fine lines, and uneven pigmentation

Mandelic Acid: Alpha hydroxy acid that has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and anti-fungal properties, and improves the appearance of pigmentation

Lactic Acid: Alpha hydroxy acid that is hydrating, exfoliating, and reduces pigmentation
Kojic Acid: Inhibits melanin production by inhibiting tyrosinase, provides gradual and continual skin lightening to relieve skin discolorations

Brightenyl®: blocks melanogenesis process to help control darkening of skin & reduce pigmented spots, helps prevent inflammation & controls skin redness

Azeloglicina®: an improved derivative of azelaic acid that is hydrating, improves the appearance of hyperpigmentation, and is shown to be beneficial for rosacea

It is normal to experience some dryness and flakiness after receiving a chemical peel. Wearing sunscreen is CRUICAl after receiving a chemical peel because the skin becomes more sensitized to UV rays.

Purging is also common where minor breakouts appear on the skin but heal faster than the normal breakout. This occurs because the buildup of oil, bacteria, and dead skin cells are pushed to the surface.
Although going through the purging process is not ideal, it just means your skin is getting rid of the bad and on its way it becoming clear!

Remember!: Acne takes 90 days to form. With the use of proper products and treatments, the clearing process is expedited, resulting in clear skin faster!
